I love Rick Moranis, plain and simple. Much of his work defined the type of films I watched as a child and were formative to my comedic tastes. So, naturally, it makes me sad that Rick Moranis doesn’t star in movies anymore. Besides a few voice acting roles, Mr. Moranis has largely been absent from any major film roles in the past two decades.
There’s a famous quote that goes something like “be the change you want to see in the world.”
So, over the past few days, I took it upon myself to write sequels to some of the most popular movies Rick Moranis ever starred in, hoping that if it were made, the Keymaster himself would come out of retirement and return to the silver screen.
1) Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
First up, my sequel to “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!” in which Rick Moranis finds himself in another wacky science adventure!
2) Little Giants
This is a sequel I wrote to “Little Giants” that takes place when all the children grow up! Alternate title: “Big Giants”
3) The Flintstones
Everybody loves “The Flintstones” because it’s both a classic cartoon and a classic movie. But what if things were turned up to a PG-13 level?
4) Little Shop of Horrors
This reimagining asks the audience a simple question: what if Rick Moranis worked in a book store rather than a plant store?
That’s right Audrey, it is indeed turtle time.
I’m not some big time Hollywood screenwriter, but I think I have some chops. So if anyone knows Rick Moranis and can pass these scripts along to him, please do! Or if anyone knows a big time Hollywood producer who’s looking for a sequel to anymore Rick Moranis films, give him my number.
Let’s get Mr. Moranis back where he belongs, everyone!
